Level 1 of the Royal Ontario Museum is about people and history. In the center, you will find a beautiful entrance with a colorful ceiling called the Rotunda. This floor has many famous objects from China, Japan, and Korea, including old statues and buildings. You can also visit a large area dedicated to the First Peoples (Indigenous people) of Canada to see their art and learn about their culture. In 2026, the main floor is very bright and open because of a new project called "OpenROM," which added a free cafe and a space for music and shows. It is a great place to start your visit and see art from all over the world.
Level 2 of the Royal Ontario Museum is all about nature and animals. This floor is very popular because it has the "Age of Dinosaurs" gallery, where you can see huge dinosaur skeletons, including a T. rex. You can also visit the Bat Cave, which is a dark, exciting tunnel that looks like a real home for bats. If you like shiny things, there is a gallery with beautiful gems, minerals, and space rocks. There is a fun area called WonderWorks where you can learn by touching objects. In early 2026, you can also see a special show about sharks and learn how they live in the ocean.
Level 3 of the Royal Ontario Museum focuses on ancient civilizations and world cultures. On this floor, you can explore the history of Ancient Egypt, where you will see mummies, statues, and old jewelry. There are also galleries for Ancient Greece and Rome that show how people lived long ago with beautiful stone carvings and vases. You can also see art and clothing from Africa, Europe, and South America, including colorful Italian armor and silver objects from many years ago. In 2026, you may find special exhibitions like "Shokkan," which lets you learn about Japanese art through touch, or a beautiful show of wildlife photography. It is a very interesting floor if you want to travel back in time and see art from many different countries.
